You don't rise to the occasion.

You fall to your level of preparation.

A six-session coaching module for parents whose families have been touched by crisis โ€” or who are bracing for what might come. Practical. Compassionate. Built for the worst moments and the long road of recovery.

Built on thirty years of working alongside families in mental health, substance use, and systems crises. Designed for the parent who needs to be ready, not destroyed.

If you've ever been on hold with 911 while your child was in danger โ€”

this is for you.

Maybe you've already been through it. The hospital. The police. The middle-of-the-night phone calls. The waiting rooms. The forms. The questions you couldn't answer because no one had ever told you the answers existed.

Maybe you're in it right now. Trying to function while your child is in a place that scares you, or coming back from one, or about to go into another.

Maybe you're not in crisis yet โ€” but something tells you it's coming, and you don't have a plan. You don't know whether your gut is overreacting or under-reacting. You don't know who to call. You don't know what to bring to an ER. You don't know your rights if child welfare gets involved.

None of this is failure. Mental health crises happen to good families. Substance use is a disease, not a parenting verdict. Safety crises can erupt overnight in the most loving homes. The systems built to help you are real, but they were not built to be easy to navigate. Most parents learn the rules by getting them wrong first.

There is another way. Preparation is not pessimism. Preparation is love made practical.

Six sessions from now, you'll be the parent who is ready.

This is not a course on diagnosis. It is not legal training. It is a coaching module for becoming the parent who can recognise crisis, respond in the worst moments, navigate the systems that get involved, debrief afterward, and protect your whole family through the long road of recovery.

By the end of this module, you'll have:

  • A clear understanding of the difference between hard and crisis โ€” and your gut check question for the moment.
  • Your child's specific Warning Signs Map โ€” early warning signs and red-line behaviours.
  • A completed Crisis Response Plan with the Who-Do-I-Call decision tree, crisis scripts, and your hospital go-bag list.
  • The Multi-System Grid โ€” your hub for managing schools, mental health, child welfare, and other systems at once.
  • Your Post-Crisis Debrief practice โ€” for processing what happened without spiralling.
  • A Family Recovery Inventory โ€” care for your child, siblings, partner, and you.
  • The Long Game framework โ€” recovery stages, setback management, and the practice of finding meaning in hard chapters.

Most importantly: the felt knowledge that you don't have to know everything. You have to have the plan ready, the support in place, and the practice of doing the next right thing when the worst moment comes.

What's inside the six sessions

Each session is roughly 75 minutes if you go through it all at once โ€” but most people split each session across a few shorter sittings. Self-paced. No deadlines. The work doesn't expire.

This module is for you ifโ€ฆ

  • Your family has been touched by mental health crisis, substance use, safety crisis, or systems involvement.
  • You're bracing for what might be coming with a child's mental health, behaviour, or wellbeing.
  • You're emerging from crisis and trying to figure out what comes next.
  • Someone you love is in a hard chapter and you want to be ready, not blindsided.
  • You've been navigating multiple systems and feel like you're drowning.

This module is probably not the right fit ifโ€ฆ

  • You are in active crisis right now. Please call 988 first, get your child and yourself safe, and come back to this module when you're past the immediate emergency.
  • You are looking for therapy. This module is coaching and general education. If you need a therapist โ€” please see one. We can help you know when, but we cannot replace one.
  • You want legal advice for a specific child welfare case or custody matter. You need a lawyer. We can help you understand your rights generally; we cannot represent you.

About Elizabeth

I'm Elizabeth Teasdale โ€” BA, BEd, MEd Admin, MEd Counselling โ€” and I've spent thirty years inside Canadian education as a teacher, an administrator, and a counsellor. I've worked with families navigating every kind of digital challenge you can imagine, and many you'd rather not.

I started Thrive Momma Coaching because I kept watching capable, fierce, deeply loving parents feel ashamed about technology โ€” convinced they should have figured it out, should be doing more, should know which app, which control, which boundary. The shame was doing more damage than the screens. So I built a different way.

This module is built on the You Are Not Failing book series, Dr. Claire Zammit's Women-Centered Coaching framework, the JAMA Pediatrics research on adolescent online safety, and three decades of seeing what actually keeps kids safer in real homes.

Note: This is coaching and general education, not therapy, not legal advice, not medical advice.

How it works

  1. Buy the module. Get instant access to all 7 lessons.
  2. Download the Reflection Journal PDF or wait for the printed copy in the mail.
  3. Start with the welcome lesson โ€” it has the immediate crisis resources you need to have on hand before any other session.
  4. Work through Session 1 when you're ready. There's no schedule. If you're in or near crisis, take it slowly โ€” this material is heavy.
  5. Come back to specific sessions as life requires. The crisis scripts. The Multi-System Grid. The Post-Crisis Debrief. They don't expire.

You are not weak for being affected. You are someone who has lived through something real.

Whether the hardest chapter is behind you, in front of you, or right now โ€” you don't have to face it without a map. There is a version of you who has the plan, the support, the resources, and the words ready for the moments when your brain shuts down. That parent isn't braver than you. She just had what you didn't.

This module is the map.

If you are in crisis, or if anything in this module surfaces something that needs professional support, please reach out to a qualified counsellor, your physician, or one of the crisis lines listed in the welcome lesson (Canada): 988 โ€” National Suicide Crisis Helpline; Kids Help Phone โ€” 1-800-668-6868 or text CONNECT to 686868; Hope for Wellness โ€” 1-855-242-3310; Trans Lifeline โ€” 1-877-330-6366; Cybertip.ca for online child exploitation; NeedHelpNow.ca for image-based abuse.

Where this module references rights, procedures, or systems, it gives a general overview.
